Laboratorytalk

Laboratorytalk was launched in 2001 to provide an online news service focussed on the laboratory sector. The concept is quite simple: all relevant news releases that are received are lightly edited and published on the web to provide a kind of living archive of announcements. A weekly email newsletter highlights the most interesting of these.

By the end of 2006, Laboratorytalk had published nearly 18,000 news releases, all archived and searchable by topic, company, product, etc. These cover analytical instruments (chromatographs, spectrometers), life sciences (genomics, proteomics), laboratory supplies (test tubes, robotic handlers), consumables (reagents, antibodies), services (contract research, training), and others. A typical week sees over 100 new stories being added.

The weekly Laboratorytalk newsletter is sent out on Wednesdays to about 18,000 subscribers (100% opt-in, free subscription). It includes my (occasionally rambling) editorial leader column.

To subscribe to newsletter, simply send a blank email from the address you wish to subscribe from, to

join-Laboratorytalk@news.pro-talk.com

You will be asked to confirm your request before being added to the circulation.

If you are a PR person who wants to submit releases to Laboratorytalk, please read this page first. You need to register the company on whose behalf you are sending news; a very simple procedure that is necessary so that readers' enquiries are appropriately forwarded. Then send your news stories as text within an email (no attachments or HTML) to the address shown – please, not to my personal address. It's all very easy and completely free.

Of course, the canny advertiser will quickly realise the tremendous value to be had from the site. Find out more here and download the Media Pack.

Laboratorytalk is published by Pro-Talk, which is now part of Centaur Media
